Fallen

Fallen - Abiqua Falls, OR I was hoping to catch this fall in full-on freeze mode, but missed the best window because of work travel this week. I was still able to visit one of my favorite waterfalls and witness some of the last remaining ice. The iced over rocks in the foreground were equal parts freeze from the powerful spray and falling icicles from the sides of the canyon. I had to work extremely quickly to safely get this shot. The temperature had reached the low 40s, which meant all of the icicles on the side of the canyon were breaking off and plummeting hundreds of feet onto the rocks below. I stayed a comfortable distance away from direct impalement zone and quickly created this shot. I can't wait to get back here for the next freeze! via ramij http://500px.com/photo/94780413
