A Dedication

To a ten year old Tanzanian girl who now is the mother of her two younger brothers, 9 and 4 years old. Living in a stone "house" meant for goats she serves her two brothers warm tea for breakfast before she and her oldest brother go to school on empty stomachs leaving their youngest sibling behind. For supper they share half a corncob before the mercy of sleep embraces them. She carries a grief that is too deep for me to comprehend, her questions I can never answer and her loneliness is outside the realm of words. She represents the millions of children who know more about suffering than what I will ever know.
