Here's To Now

After a number of attempts to capture an image at Aguereberry Point, I finally came away with an image I'm happy with. First off, for full disclosure, my first visit was on a photo tour with Marc Adamus, whom had helped with the composition at that time. I was working the scene a little closer in, more in between the rock formations, when he had pointed out the composition from further back. I have since been back to the this spot on two different occasions in an attempt to get better light. Earlier that day I had raced out of the Racetrack like a madman, figuring the overcast skies would not produce much interest throughout the day, so I would scout other areas of the park instead of spending a day sitting around The Racetrack. As the afternoon approached I could see the faintest sliver of blue sky towards the northwest areas of the park. I figured that if the skies did open up to the west, tonight would be a great night to shoot from Aguereberry Point. After my speedy departure from the racetrack, without blowing any tires, I figured my truck was invincible and I could race around the entire park now....not so much the case. Two miles up the road to Aguereberry.... *POP* "Did I just blow a tire?" (talking to myself) "Couldn't have..." "I should stop..." "F@ck!!!" Flat as can be. Changing to the spare in record time, as the light just got better and better, I finished the 6 mile trip up the road with just enough time to set up a few good shots before the sun peaked out to the west and light up everything in the sky. This was probably the best light I saw on my entire 4 week trip. Absolutely stunning. The downside was having to purchase new tires in Bishop, as the hole in one was way to large to fix, and another tire was on its way out. Oh well, it was worth it. via jlphotography http://500px.com/photo/103595395
