Wanaka Ablaze

The first light catching that famous tree at Lake Wanaka, NZ. This is my third and final composition of this tree from my most recent trip to the South Island. The shot list I was looking for was a panorama, a long exposure and a vertical composition. I find vertical composition difficult at the best of times, but this location challenges any photographer. The water was fairly still this morning as we gazed at the tree. This reflection was only visible at a very acute angle - it was captured by inverting the camera on the central column of the tripod and hanging it a mere few cms from the water's surface.
